Supported G-codes

All standard GRBL G-codes are supported — compatible with any GRBL post-processor, UGS, CNCjs, or your favorite sender. On top of that, the FluidBoard adds:

Lathe G-codes:

  • Threading — single-pass (G33) and multi-pass canned cycle (G76)
  • Constant surface speed (G96/G97) with automatic RPM adjustment
  • Feed per revolution (G95) for consistent chip loads
  • Diameter programming mode (G7/G8)

Tool management:

  • Full tool table with persistent storage (G10, G43, G49)
  • Cutter radius compensation (G41/G42) for nose radius correction
  • Automatic tool changes (M6) with pneumatic turret support

Compensation:

  • 2D bed leveling for routers and mills
  • 1D runout correction for lathes

Supported machines:

  • CNC Routers — wood, plastic, aluminum, foam
  • CNC Mills — precision metal work
  • Lathes — full threading, CSS, feed-per-rev, ATC
  • Laser cutters & engravers — TTL/PWM control
  • Plasma cutters

What sets this apart from other boards:

  • No PC required — the controller runs everything standalone
  • WiFi, Ethernet, CAN Bus, and USB all built in
  • State persistence — never lose position after e-stop or power loss
  • USB camera streaming — monitor from any browser
  • S-curve acceleration for better surface finish
  • All of this for €125, on a single board

Interfaces

FluidWeb

Our custom web interface for monitoring and controlling your machine from any browser.

WebUI

The familiar FluidNC WebUI, included out of the box for configuration and control.

Serial & Telnet

Connect with any GRBL sender through USB serial or Telnet over your network.

Pendants

Physical pendant support for hands-on machine control and jogging.

USB Camera

Plug in a Logitech C310 and stream live video to your browser. Monitor jobs from anywhere on your network.

LED Strip

WS2812 LED strip shows machine state at a glance — idle, running, alarm, homing — with position tracking along your axes.

Frequently asked questions

Is the FluidBoard compatible with my existing GRBL setup?
Yes. The FluidBoard is fully GRBL compatible. Any G-Code from a GRBL post-processor will work, and you can use any GRBL sender (UGS, CNCjs, etc.) over serial, Telnet, or the web interface.
What machines does the FluidBoard support?
CNC routers, mills, plasma cutters, laser cutters, engravers, and lathes. The firmware is fully configurable, so it adapts to your specific machine setup.
Can I run FluidNC from GitHub on my FluidBoard?
Although you won't get all the features that we support, the FluidBoard will run just fine with FluidNC from Github.
Do I need a computer connected to run my machine?
No. The FluidBoard can run G-Code files from an SD card, or you can send jobs over WiFi or Ethernet. Once a job is loaded, the board runs it independently.
How does the FluidBoard relate to FluidNC?
We co-founded the FluidNC project in 2018 and continue to contribute to it. The FluidBoard runs an extended version of FluidNC with additional features like S-curve motion, Ethernet, state persistence, and spindle encoders. We plan to contribute these features upstream over time. This ensures we can streamline support, without adding to the support burden that's already heavy.
What kind of support is included?
Every FluidBoard comes with 2 years of support covering both hardware and firmware. This includes help with setup, configuration, and troubleshooting. Firmware updates are delivered over-the-air at no extra cost.
Can I use external stepper drivers?
Yes. The FluidBoard supports TMC stepstick modules (SPI) and external stepper drivers via step/direction outputs. For your main axes, we recommend external drivers — the TMC slots are great for auxiliary things like tool changers. See our external drivers guide for details.
Can I use it for a lathe?
Yes — and this is where the FluidBoard really shines. With a spindle encoder, you get threading (G33/G76), constant surface speed (G96), feed per revolution (G95), a full tool table, cutter radius compensation, and even automatic tool changer support. These are features you'd normally only find on industrial controllers.
What about a USB camera?
The FluidBoard streams live video from a Logitech C310 webcam directly to your browser. Start a job and monitor it from the couch. No extra software, no separate PC — just plug in the camera and open the web interface.
How does state persistence work?
A dedicated chip saves your machine state — positions, tool offsets, G-code state, overrides — roughly 10 times per second. If power goes out or you hit the e-stop, just power back on and continue. No re-homing, no re-zeroing. You're never punished for using the e-stop.
What's the difference between this and a parallel port BOB or Arduino board?
A breakout board just routes signals — it needs a PC to do the actual motion control. The FluidBoard is a complete controller: dual-core 240 MHz processor, 8 MB RAM, built-in WiFi, Ethernet, CAN bus, RS485, analog outputs, opto-isolated inputs, and more. It runs your machine standalone. No PC required, no latency issues, no driver headaches.
